Wayne Nelson

Lead Singer of Little River Band

Great photo of Wayne.jpg

What would he say if was told he would be the same band for over 40 years? We discuss growing up in Rome, IL and he knows my hometown of Streator, IL. How he was introduced to music, started playing the bass and the bands he played in Illinois before moving to California.

Wayne tells us how he got the job in Jim Messina’s band, how he was invited to join Little River Band in 1981, and being at the right place at the right time has been in his favor a few times that includes being the lead singer on the track- “The Night Owls” which was his personal break out moment in the business.

We discuss if fans forget about all the hit songs the band has and Little River Band was the first band to have Top 10 hits in six consecutive years! Not Elvis, The Beatles, or even The Eagles but Little River Band! How many different lineups has Wayne played with being with the band for over 40 years? He tells us how they keep the history of the Little River Band alive. Hear about how the band is interactive with its audience and the 2020 LP- “Black Tie” which is a greatest hits compilation with an orchestra.

Little River Band plays close to 100 show per year, and we talk about how active the band is and end with how Wayne wants to be remembered.
